He’s looking forward to it. “There's so much in store for us, in addition to the important things on our table already... We’ll be migrating to a completely new pension system. The media are reporting on it every day. Every year, the Netherlands and Denmark take turns as the country with the world's best pension system. So the system in our country is quite good, and yet we need to change it.” 

Do I need to take action for partner pension?

If you are employed by ING, you automatically build up pension rights. Not only for yourself, but also for your partner, so your partner will get a pension if you pass away. This could be subject to conditions.

Transfer your accrued pension rights

Have you just joined the company? And did you take part in a pension plan through a previous employer? As a new employee, you can transfer previously accrued pension rights to ING CDC Pensioenfonds, subject to certain conditions. This is referred to as a ‘value transfer’.

New Dutch pension system: The roadmap to 2026

Last summer, the Dutch government and the social partners reached agreement on the outlines of a new national pension agreement. The details of their agreement in principle have been worked out in draft legislation. The public at large was able to give their opinion on the proposed law until 12 February 2021.

Total return on investment 5.6%

The financial results of the fourth quarter of 2020 are available. The total return on investment was 5.6%. Compared to the third quarter of 2020, the funding ratio increased from 99% to 104%. The policy funding ratio remained 98%.

What is the difference between cutting back the pension accrual rate and cutting pensions?

Cutting back the pension accrual rate is not the same as a pension cutback. The reasons behind these two issues are different and they affect different groups of participants.
