Your special

Care for your loved ones

Do you know what your pension plan will provide for your partner and children if you pass away? And do you know where to find more information on how much your loved ones will get? Or how to determine whether that will be enough?

As an employee of ING, you’re automatically a participant of the ING CDC Pensioenfonds pension plan. This plan also provides a pension for your surviving dependants.

You are still employed
If you pass away while you’re still employed by ING, your partner and children will receive surviving dependants pension (partner and orphans pension), subject to certain conditions. Benefits under this pension are determined based on the assumption that you would have been a participant of the pension plan until your retirement date. In addition to a lifetime partner pension, your partner will also receive temporary partner pension until he/she reaches the Dutch state pension (AOW) retirement age. For 2020, benefits under this pension amount to € 15,814 gross per year.

Take action now! You must register your live-in partner at ING CDC Pensioenfonds if you’re not married and don’t have a registered partnership. If you don’t, your partner will not be entitled to partner pension if you pass away. In other words, this cannot be arranged afterwards.

Make sure you submit all the necessary documents to ensure your partner will be eligible for partner pension. You can do this online in ‘My Pension’. Or download the form ‘Report your partner’.

Your children will receive orphans pension until they turn 18. Their entitlement to orphans pension can be extended until they turn 27 if they are in college or run the parental household.

You have left employment but are not retired yet
If you pass away after having left employment, your surviving dependants will be eligible for a pension, provided you left your pension accrual in ING CDC Pensioenfonds.

Important: If you are living with your partner without being married or having a registered partnership, you must report your partner to the pension fund to qualify for partner pension. You can do this online in ‘My Pension’. Or download the form ‘Report your partner’.

You have retired
If you pass away after having left employment, your surviving dependants will be eligible for a pension, subject to the following conditions. Before you pass away or your retirement starts:

  • You must be married, or
  • Your partnership must be registered at a municipality, or
  • You must report your partner to the pension fund if you are live-in partners.

After your passing away, your old age pension benefits will be discontinued and the surviving dependants pension will start paying out, unless you and your partner made a deviating agreement. For example, when your retirement started you might have opted for conversion of (all or part of) your partner pension for higher old age pension benefits.

When your retirement starts, make sure everything is arranged the way you want it to be. If you have any questions, please contact the Pension Desk.

Pension for your ex-partner
Did you ever get a divorce? If so, it’s very likely that your ex-partner will receive special partner pension, which means your current partner will receive less pension.
